X-SPELLED SYNOPSIS
(Spoiler Alert)
Queen Drake of Baron is cursed with infertility by a malicious witch. She sends her servant, Rumpelstiltskin, to find her a baby in exchange for his freedom. He meets the queen’s request and is released from his duties when he brings her a baby, Princess Maren.
Years later, the kingdom goes into a great depression and the villagers start dying from starvation. Maren is their only hope to wed someone who is capable of turning things around. Her father grants Prince John permission to marry her, but she isn’t in love with him.
While at the royal ball, Prince John is called out before he makes his marriage proposal. She runs into her childhood love, Prince Daniel Trew. She realizes she still loves him. When Prince John returns, he is angered at Daniel’s interference and they end up in a sword fight. They are escorted off. Another princess, Elizabeth, who seeks to wed Prince Daniel Trew, informs Maren about the Trew Test. She also tells Maren she is adopted.
Maren confronts her mother and finds out it is true about being adopted. She also realizes she is the reason her people are dying. In sorrow, she runs away into a forest where she meets a witch named Wickey. During her encounter, Maren accidentally spills the witch’s valuable ingredient. In anger, she casts a spell on the princess. She must find a true love’s kiss within three days, or the spell will become permanent.
Later on, Prince John ends up joining forces with Wickey in order to get Maren to drink a love potion so she will fall in love with him instead of Daniel.
Maren finds herself about to be attacked by wolves when a woodsman and his daughter, Ash, save her. Ash agrees to protect Maren just before her father dies. She helps Maren get to the Trew Castle, posing as Maren’s servant.
Prince Daniel professes his love. He informs Maren that she will be tested, but he doesn’t know what the test is. He also lets her know that if she fails, they will never be able to associate again. The confident Princess Elizabeth is also in attendance to be tested.
Maren is put through the test and Queen Trew proclaims that Maren passed. Elizabeth has also passed. When Maren learns what the test was, she realizes she actually failed. Ash tries to convince her to go along with it and at least get her kiss to break the spell, but Maren’s integrity wins. She knows she must return to help her kingdom. She chooses to go back to marry Prince John, even though her heart is with Daniel.
She returns to Prince John. When he learns she is adopted, he discloses his true identity and his plan to become the owner of Drake’s hidden treasure that they were unaware of.
Daniel returns to Baron determined to win Maren’s heart. She finds out she is a real princess and that the test was invalid. He asks Maren to marry him, and his kiss breaks her spell.
Wickey returns, still boiling with revenge for Maren spilling her ingredient. She casts spells on Maren, Daniel, Ash, and Queen Drake. The evil curse is lifted off one by one through the power of true love’s kiss, and they live happily ever after.
